I purchased a 65 inch television for well under 1000.00. That's insane. I'm going to go over some of the pros and cons of this model, below, but keep in mind (given the number of cons) that at this price-point the value is absolutely phenomenal. I was a little skeptical about DLP technology as it seems only Mitsubishi is left in the game. But, I went and looked at a few models, was reasonably impressed, and a size v. value equation was definitely at work for me.

Ergonomically, I wasn't mounting this on a wall, the 10-15 inches of depth didn't matter to me ... though this certainly isn't a very attractive looking television. I only care about how it works, though. Here are my pros and cons. Keep in mind, the television (on each viewing, but particularly when you first buy it) needs 3-5 minutes to warm up. It generally never looks anywhere near its best when you first turn it on. Ah ... the joys of analog lighting technology.

I bought this TV from Dell to replace my Toshiba 57" rear-projection (non-DLP) HDTV. The old one was just taking up too much floor space. This beauty has a much smaller footprint, is very light, and the picture is amazing. Streaming from Netflix in HD, playing games on my 360, even over-the-air HD broadcasts look fantastic. Setup was a breeze, and the menus are pretty straightforward. Just keep in mind you're going to have to spend at least $200 more for a stand for this monster. All in all, I couldn't be happier with the new TV. If I had to pick something to complain about, it would be that the only audio out jack is digital coax, so I have to buy a new receiver to run audio to my speakers. The TV speakers work well enough for now, but I definitely want to get back my surround sound. If you want a giant, beautiful HDTV, ready for 3D, and you don't want to spend a fortune on LCD, this is the TV for you.

This television is brilliant. Every single time I look at this TV, I am reminded about what an awesome purchase I made. This was my first HDTV - I waited, researched and chose this because of 1) I wanted a giant screen, 2) the picture is incredible and 3) the price ($900) was unbeatable. In the last year since I've purchased this TV, I have seen LED tv's really improve and take over the TV market. I just purchased an LG 42LV5500 as a second HDTV for our bedroom - and I am returning it. I've found that I actually can't stand LED tv's - I find the smooth motion features annoying, and after spending a few hours trying to calibrate the LG, it still doesn't compare with the Mitsubishi. Also - something I took for granted - the menu system on the Mitsubishi is perfect. It's super easy to navigate, customize and do everything you want with this television. It may seem trite, but it can make all the difference if you plan on doing any sort of tweaking and calibration yourself. DLP is... Read more
