5.0 out of 5 stars Very impressed! Awesome TV!, December 14, 2010

I have had this TV for about three weeks now, and I am very impressed. The features are very comprehensive with internet capabilities that not only includes Netflix and Vudu, but also Yahoo Widgets. And every time you enter its internet capabilities, it makes a quick check for updates, so it should be easy to pick up enhancements if/when LG introduces them in the future. The TV comes with two remotes, one of which has a motion sensor (think Wii) so when you wave it in the air it moves a cursor around over menus on the screen. I think that's a great concept and it works well for basic menu function. The USB port reads external hard disks with all of the different content I have thrown at it without any problems, and it has a great interface for navigating the folders.

The picture quality is excellent as compared to the 65 inch 1080P Mitsubishi I replaced, but also as compared to the other 6 TVs in my house. Nothing beats the last generation plasma screens in brilliance and... Read more

This review is simply my first impressions of the LG 60PX950. I researched this TV to the point of obsession over the last month. My initial intention was to purchase a 55" LCD with local dimming LED backlighting. When I started my research my thoughts were that Plasma TVs were past their prime and LCD has surpassed them in terms of image quality. However, the more I read, the more I became convinced that this was far from true (especially in regard to the black levels) and that Plasmas were more than just alive and well, they still reigned supreme in the eyes of home theater aficionados. So, I decided Plasma was the way to go... this decision leaves one with relatively little to pick from; pretty much just Panasonic, Samsung, and LG since Pioneer and Sony seemingly abandoned the plasma market. I was initially sold on Samsung as it is somewhat price comparable to LG and Panasonic seems to be over priced, however, the recurring stories of buzzing from the Samsung screen scared me off... I researched this purchase for weeks, considering LCD, LED and Plasma. I went into the seach thinking I'd go with LED if I could afford it, but thought plasma was outdated. What I found is plasma still has the best picture and significantly best price. It tends to be a bit thicker and heavier, but that wasn't a concern for me...and this is only 2 inches thick. Plasma has deeper blacks but some models aren't great for rooms with lots of light - this model ranks very high for high ambient light and does great in my room, which has 10 skylights and a 25 foot wall of windows. The entire front of the TV is covered with a pane of glass (unlike LCD and LED); again, this is another concern with plasmas in high light rooms but I don't really notice the reflections. This has a filter (Tru-Black or something like that) that helps with both situations.

The picture is incredible. Little things like the individual grass blades during a football game and the tiny details in a... Read more
